EVAT Industry Training for Pupils, Hamburg
European Screeningport participated in the first round of the EVAT (Entdecken, Verstehen, Anwenden und Trnsferieren) project in Hamburg, initiated by the Metropolregion Hamburg. With this activity, European ScreeningPort is supporting the education of HighSchool pupils in Hamburg. The goal is to strengthen the understanding for natural sciences, envision career options in that field and encourage the pupils to work scientifically and transfer their newly gained knowledge in own experimental set-ups.
At European ScreeningPort the pupils gained theoretical insight in the projects we are working on and in the process of Drug Discovery. This was followed by an experimental training where the pupils worked with various instrumentations for liquid handling and generated data applying a fluorescence-based read-out.

A bioluminogenic HDAC activity assay - validation and screening

We have validated novel bioluminogenic assays for HDAC enzymes. These were subsequently utilized in High Throughput Screens that yielded Z' > 0.6 with Hit rates of < 1% with acceptable performance in Confirmation and Counter Assays.

Using PLA in high content format, the dynamic action of single transcription factors in human pluripotent stem cells can be visualized on a system-wide scale with singel cell resolution and can be linked to certain cell cycle phases.
