Team

Carsten Claussen brings his extensive leadership experience to European ScreeningPort. He has wide executive management experience, including as CEO of Evotec Technologies, now part of PerkinElmer, Inc., and as Member of Evotec AG’s Executive Management Committee. Carsten is Guest Professor for Entrepreneurship and sits on the boards of several start-up companies.

Bernhard Ellinger joined European ScreeningPort in 2011 after completing his PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund where he developed cell-based as well as biochemical assays and performed target validation studies. Bernhard holds a diploma in biochemistry from the Martin Luther University Halle/Wittenberg.

Philip Gribbon is responsible for Operations and Science at European ScreeningPort. He brings considerable experience in drug discovery programs across a wide range of target classes acquired while working at Pfizer and GSK. Philip has a PhD in Biophysics from Imperial College, London.

Sheraz Gul joined European ScreeningPort after 7 years experience of drug discovery within GlaxoSmithKline ranging from target validation, developing assays for screening, compound profiling, lead optimisation and candidate characterisation. He has a BSc, PhD and 5 years postdoctoral research from the University of London and is the co-author of several high ranking publications and the Enzyme Assays: Essential Data handbook.

Mira Grättinger is in charge of Business Development and Marketing at the European ScreeningPort. She previously established the assay development and screening department at a Munich biotech company before taking over responsibility for their Business Development. She holds a diploma in biology and a PhD in biochemistry from the Universities of Regensburg and Hamburg.

Francoise Halley brings her 5 years expertise in High-Content assay development to European ScreeningPort. She previously worked for Cenix Bioscience using High-Throughput RNAi technology for the discovery and pre-clinical development of novel therapeutics. Francoise has a Master in Biotechnology from the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Technologie des Biomolecules de Bordeaux (ENSTBB), France.

Alexander Hochreiner was trained at the School of Life Science in Hamburg as biological-technical assistant. Before joining European ScreeningPort he gained experience in large-scale, bioreactor-based cultivation as well as cell culture and biochemical experimentation. He now is responsible for the validation of novel and innovative technologies, applicable in the area of Drug Discovery and is working on biomarker studies, translating into the clinic.

Oliver Keminer joined European ScreeningPort in 2011 afther gathering 12 years of working experience in drug discovery within Eli Lilly (Lilly Forschungs GmbH, Hamburg) and Evotec. He brings his broad know-how in assay development and validation (enzymatic and cell-based assays), target validation and compound profiling. Oliver holds a diploma in biology from the Ruhr-University of Bochum.

Ole Pless is in charge of the Biomarker Laboratory of the European ScreeningPort located at the Center for Molecular Neurobiology Hamburg (ZMNH) / University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). He holds a diploma in Biology from the University of Heidelberg. He has a PhD from the Humboldt University and the Max-Delbrueck-Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin and three years of postdoctoral research experience in transcription factor biology and assay development.

Jeanette Reinshagen is biological-technical assistant with 2 years of working experience in the assay development and cell culture team of a biotech company. She joined European ScreeningPort in 2009 to contribute to the assay development and screening department.

Nina Viertel is in charge of commercial affairs at European ScreeningPort. She holds a Bachelor degree in European Business Administration and Management from the European Business University of Applied Sciences of Hamburg. She gained 5 years experience in project management and M&A and worked as a Chief Executive Assitance for c.a.r.u.s. AG.

Björn Windshügel is in charge of Bioinformatics and Computational Chemistry at European ScreeningPort. He holds a diploma in biology and a PhD in pharmacy and conducted four years of post-doctoral research at the Universities of Eastern Finland and Hamburg, before joining European ScreeningPort in 2011. Björn brings considerable experience in molecular modeling and virtual screening.

Markus Wolf comes to European ScreeningPort after 2 years stationed at the University of Cincinnati to set up a screening laboratory and train personnel to use HTS equipment. He previously worked for both Evotec and PerkinElmer running and maintaining screening systems used for drug discovery.
